Carragher said: "Obviously it was only a pre-season game but it was still a

disappointing result for us because you never want to get beat.
 
"If you look at the first 20 minutes to half an hour then I suppose we were

chasing shadows a bit during that spell and that's all credit to them.
 
"From our point of view, we've still got a few players coming back into it and I

think we felt it in the conditions out there.
 
"But sometimes in a game of football you lose and you just have to hold your hands

up and admit that you were beaten by the better side on the night. This was one of

those occasions, so full credit to them. They played very well.
 
"It was a mixture of things really; it just wasn't our night but it's getting

closer to the season now and we've got a couple of weeks to put it right.
 
"That's what these games are all about, though, and hopefully we'll be ready when

the season kicks off."
 
Sunday's game saw Pepe Reina and Fernando Torres make their first starts of the

summer following their Confederations Cup escapades.
 
Carragher added: "It's good that they came back because they are two of our big

players, one at one end of the pitch and one at the other.
 
"That's one of the positives to come out of it that a couple of players have had

the chance to build up their match fitness and hopefully it will all come together

by the time we come up against Tottenham."

캐러거는 "(에스파욜과의 경기는) 비록 한 경기에 불과하지만, 우리는 상대에 비해 전혀

나은 경기력을 보여주지 못했으며 경기 결과도 실망스럽다."라고 말하였다.

"일요일에 있었던 경기에서 페페 레이나와 페르난도 토레스는 컨페더레이션스 컵(Conferations Cup)이후 올 여름 처음으로 선발 출전하였다."

캐러거는 덧붙였다. "두 선수가 팀에 합류하게 되어 기쁘다. 둘은 팀에서 매우 중요한 선수로 한 명은 최전방에서 다른 한 명은 최후방에서 중요한 역할을 한다."

"대회가 끝나 팀에 합류하게 됨으로써 두 선수는 시즌 개막 전 경기력을 끌어올릴 수 있다는 점이 긍정적인 측면이며, 토트넘과의 경기도 무사히 준비할 수 있으리라 본다."
